Hotel Nostos (Chania, Greece)

The position of the hotel was probably what guests most appreciated about it. It was said to overlook the very old harbour, and guests seemed to sense the history of the area.

The building the hotel is in was said to be around 600 years old, which many felt added character. One particular spot guests really seemed to like was the rooftop terrace. While it was not very elaborate or grand, that was perhaps what they liked about it - it made it feel cosy.

Several guests were astonished by just how quiet the location was. Considering that it is right in the centre of the Old Town, they were perhaps expecting some street noise from revellers down below. But they were happy to report only silence.

While a fairly minor point, since guest do not typically travel to Greece to watch TV, it was mentioned that there were very few English language stations available - perhaps BBC World and one or two others. On the odd occasion when they just wanted to switch off and relax in front of the TV, guests found the lack of choice frustrating.

While there are a few studio apartments which have a kitchenette, guests in the standard rooms were disappointed to find, or rather not find, tea and coffee making facilities in there room. They would have liked the convenience of being able to make themselves a hot beverage with a minimum of fuss.

A number of guests mentioned that they found their bathrooms, and especially the shower cubicles, to be too small to really use with any comfort.
