The Portstewart Strand is a two-mile coastline situated in the northern coast of Northern Ireland. It is a popular place for its beach sand and dunes which make it ideal for certain types of habitat -both plants and animals. The Strand is being managed by the National Trust (UK) as one of the holiday destinations, and it is designated as an Areas of Special Scientific Interest and has been proposed for Special Area of Conservation Status as well. There is an admission fee for the use of the visitors' facilities; however the beach area is open to the public for family activities with access points for people who have disabilities, including vehicle parking area. Further, the beach has a Blue Flag category for having a high water quality standard for water sports activities and swimming. The visitors' facilities located in the Strand are open everyday in the following timetable: 1000h-1800h from March-April and October; 1000h-2100h from May to August; and1000h-2000h in September.
