This is a down to earth, no nonsense, hotel with spacious rooms, some of which have been renovated. Beds are comfortable and generally, there's a, not unpleasant, feeling of yesteryear about the place.
What a terrific bunch, the staff are! From the front desk and cleaners, to the guy who serves the (*really quite good) coffee in the lobby; everyone is great, helpful and informative. When remembering a happy stay here, the staff will be at the forefront of your mind.
This hotel is in a really convenient location; handy for local transport - so, no need to bother with the car - it's also less than half a block away from the light rail stop.
Rooms are OK but not overly cheap. It seems a bit mean, then, to charge more for WiFi which is unreliable. Air conditioning is super cold ... and the lack of a refrigerator in the room is a big negative factor. It shouldn't be necessary to get towels and a hairdryer from the front desk!
Walk in bare feet on the floor and those feet will be filthy within minutes. That's an alarm call as to the general standards of cleanliness. Heard of hand towels? They 'hand' you the towels as you check in! They are not good quality either.
Enter a non-smoking room and the first thing you see is cigarette ash!The second sensation is the smell of smoke, ingrained for all time in the curtains. Turn your attention then to the broken down furniture and lack of mirrors, decoration, soap and shampoo. No doubt you were hoping for something considerably better.
