This traditional seaside hotel's location in the centre of Morecambe promenade and just over the road from the beach was a hit with most guests. It also conveniently put them a short walk from the town centre, promenade attractions, public transport links, shopping and dining options. Those wishing to explore the Yorkshire Dales and Lake District liked the way they were within driving distance of both national parks.
The captivating Morecambe Bay and Irish Sea views from some rooms were a delight for many reviewers who also often said the rooms were simple but more than adequately clean, tidy and comfortable for their needs.
The hosts were reportedly friendly, accommodating, helpful and brimming with local knowledge. Many guests said they were made to feel right at home and plenty of those who tried the breakfast were often pleased with it.
Some motorists arriving late in the day during busier periods were disappointed they were unable to use this property's free car park as there were limited spaces. However, there was public parking nearby but charges often applied.
Critics expressed negative opinions about some aspects of certain rooms. It was claimed some of the rooms and en suites were rather small or had fixtures and fittings that were defective or requiring minor repairs. Other maintenance grumbles focused on aging mattresses and tired-looking furniture in certain rooms. Cleanliness complaints centred on inadequately cleaned bathrooms, rubbish leftover from previous guests and dirty carpets.
During the busiest periods, some disappointed diners occasionally claimed they encountered chaotic service in the restaurant.
