Situated just minutes from the beach and small craft harbour, Hotel Montepiedra Hotel is a charming villa-style property offering elegant accommodation among lovely greenery. The rooms have a certain understated elegance, and include lovely antique pieces. Each features en-suite bathroom with hairdryer, air conditioning, minibar, flat screen TV, in-room safe, work desk and telephone. There is a pool terrace with the usual sun loungers and an exquisite poolside café, as well as a separate pool for children. Reception is on hand and can assist with tours, transfers, laundry, luggage storage and car hire. Wi-Fi is available in the public areas. The on-site restaurant specialises in local cuisine, especially rice dishes, but some international favourites are also available. This area of Valencia is well known for its golf courses, and there are four within 6 miles of Hotel Montepiedra. Alicante is about 39 miles to the north.
Of course guests had come to this part of Spain mainly for the beaches. While the Montepiedra isn't right on the beach, it is just a couple of minutes away, and guests felt they could easily walk to a fro as the mood took them
The hotel is much like a large villa, and is in fact mostly on one level. Together with the lovely gardens and pool terrace, and the fact that the rooms were arranged around it, this created a very relaxing atmosphere. Guests didn't feel they were in some massive and anonymous resort.
Whatever small issues guests may have had with their rooms, cleanliness certainly wasn't one of them. They mention that the rooms were absolutely spotless on check-in, and the cleaning staff made sure they stayed clean during the course of their stay.
Guests who travelled in the shoulder and off-seasons point out that not only is the hotel itself very quiet, but many of the restaurants and bars in the town are closed, so there is a lot less to choose from at this time of year.
This was a fairly common complaint. The rooms don't have any tea or coffee making facilities, and guests say it is not even that easy to get these in the hotel itself, especially early in the morning. They would definitely have appreciated having in-room facilities.
While the food served in the restaurant after in the day received very good reviews, it was hard to find a good word written about the breakfast. Items that should be either hot or cold were said to be served at room temperature.
