Rooms come in different bed configurations and can fit many sizes of families. They either provide fridge and microwave, kitchenette or full-size kitchen. Mel-Haven lodge offers limited front-desk hours, laundry facilities, picnic tables, bbq grills and seasonal outdoor pool. Free parking is provided. Restaurants, cafes and bars are within a five minute walk of the hotel, for example Adam’s Mountain Cafe offering healthy and vegetarian fare or Amanda’s Fonda serving Mexican cuisine. The hotel is near many activities like horseback riding, spas, shops and bike rentals, which can all be reached within minutes. Though the hotel has a vintage look from the outside, guests were pleasantly surprised by the updated clean, spacious and comfortable rooms that awaited them. The hotel has different rooms that sleep bigger families as well. Amenities like kitchenettes make the stay great if you do not want to eat out all the time.

Being located in the middle between Manitou Springs and Colorado Springs the hotel is the ideal starting point to explore Pike Peak County. Many of the known outdoor sights are not far to get to. The hotel is in a neighborhood that also offers plenty of shops and restaurants nearby, making it convenient for a variety of different activities.
Some guests felt that the building itself is a bit run down on the outside and could use some renovations. However, if you care more about the room than the look of the building you should be very happy with what you get for the price here.
