Located in the heart of the City, Market View by Bridgestreet offers thoroughly modern accommodation in a fully resorted red brick Victorian property. The apartments range in size from studios to three bedrooms. All have that sleek and modern look, and feature fully equipped kitchens and flat screen TV’s. Wi-Fi is available, as is housekeeping. These are really apartment rentals, rather than an apart-hotel, and there are few public facilities. The front desk is open 24 hours and can assist with some concierge services. There are no restaurants that form part of the complex, but of course London is now one of the world’s premier spots for good food. There are a few interesting working class cafes opposite nearby Smithfields Market that have become very popular in recent years. The apartments are within walking distance of most of the City offices. Canary Wharf is about 4.6 miles to the east.
While guests did seem to have a few issues with the accommodation, many went on to say that they got a pretty good deal for a central London apartment. As a result they felt that the small problems could be ignored, since they were receiving good value.
While some had issues with the location because of noise, most did like it otherwise. Many guests were business people heading to offices in the City. But even tourists felt they could walk to St.Pauls, the Tower of London, and once they had exhausted the City sites just hop on a tube to get elsewhere.
Again and again guest mentioned how spacious their apartment was. Potential guests should be careful to check the sizes, because there are various types available, but no complaints about them being too small were found.
While the kitchens were said to be fairly well equipped, a couple of guests mentioned that there was no food or supplies in them at all when they checked-in. Not even so much as salt in the salt shaker. They were clearly hoping for a small starter kit of basic items.
Market View does indeed have a market view. The last holdout in the trend that has seen the other big markets move out the city centre, Smithfields is very much alive with real activity and work. For the guests at Market View this meant a lot of noise, especially very early in the morning.
While guests were perhaps not as upset about having to pay for Wi-Fi as they would have been had they been in a hotel, they still resented what were regarded as fairly expensive charges.
