Each of the 121 rooms can be accessed via external corridors and contains an in-room safe, a desk, free bottled water, a hairdryer and a ceiling fan. The private shower-only bathrooms are stocked with free toiletries. Mahekal Beach Resort has a meeting room, a garden, gift shops and a fireplace in the lobby. Television is available in common areas and the members of staff are fluent in Spanish, German and English. Aventura serves a daily breakfast buffet and lunch. La Loma has regular theme nights, live music and serves buffet meals and 4-course set dinners. The hotel is a short walk from the vibrant 5th Avenue and a 45 minute drive from Tulum National Park.
The breakfast buffet is expertly prepared and quite varied. Food items that run out are quickly replenished with a fresh batch from the kitchen. Guests were happy by the fact that the buffet was included in the room price.
The hotel employees go out of their way to assist you and make your stay as peaceful and enjoyable as possible. They take pride in their work and have jovial and welcoming attitude. They are also readily available and give you all the information you need.
The hotel is close to a variety of attractions like the Quinta Avenida Mall which is a few minute walk. The nightlife is also quite vibrant and guests have the option of visiting the nightclubs nearby. Those wishing to visit a beach will find one right across the hotel and several others within walking distance.
A number of guests have complained about their mattresses being too hard and their pillows too flat and unyielding. The number of pillows was also on the lower side, with a few guests who were staying alone being given only one pillow.
The hotel offers free Wi-Fi for the guests at the lobby though some guests have complained that the speed is too slow to do anything productive with. They were inconvenienced due to the signal only being strong at the crowded lobby and rather weak in their rooms.
