Hotel Locanda Acquavita (Venice, Italy)

While the location a small distance from the main sights did not appeal to all, many did say that they liked being in a quieter area with more of a local flavour, or as much of one as is possible in Venice.

Amazingly for a Venetian hotel far from the Grand Canal, very few guests had any difficulty finding the property.  A map is provided, and this seemed to help, but there are vaporetti stops nearby as well, and it seems it is not difficult to get to from these.

It seems that some rooms have views of the canals. This tended to surprise guests since this fact was not really advertised on Acquavita's website.

While it appears guests could accept small rooms, this being Venice after all, many drew the line at what were described as “miniscule” bathrooms. To them it wasn't simply an aesthetic matter, but one of comfort, since they didn't feel they could properly use the toilet and shower in the bathroom since due to the small size of the room.

Guests are nearly unanimous in their dislike of the breakfast. It is served in-room, but many do not like that the time it is available is limited and only starts at 8:30 AM. The breakfast itself is often described as meagre, and not prepared or presented well. It may be best to simply get a quick breakfast at a nearby café.

Locanda Acquavita is a small property, and it often happened that a guest would want to check-in when nobody was available on-site. While there were procedures for this, they of course didn't always work exactly to plan, leaving some guests very frustrated.
