Set in the very heart of Ensenada, close to its harbour and Historical Museum, Las Dunas is a charming colonial style property offering comfortable accommodation. The rooms are simply furnished and decorated, but include all you’ll need for a good night’s rest, including microwaves and mini-fridges, so you can prepare your own snacks and drinks whenever the mood strikes. The star amenity is undoubtedly the small pool courtyard, the perfect place to sit back and enjoy the warm weather. The hotel has a bit of a motel design, with parking bays very close to the rooms. Wi-Fi is available throughout the property. The onsite resto-bar not only serves great drinks, but also small plate of tasty traditional Mexican food as well. The tourist heart of Ensenada, with its shops, bars and cafes, is just over a mile from Las Dunas. The cruise terminal is one mile from the hotel.

Good restaurant onsite
A number of guests mentioned that there was a restaurant attached to the hotel that provided some pretty decent traditional Mexican food. Many did not feel that they needed to look high and low for a restaurant, unless they really wanted to get out and about.

In desperate need of renovations
This was by far what most upset guests during their stay. They not only described the décor as hopelessly out of date, but went on to mentioned that the seeming lack of any recent updates affected the functionality of the place as well, with assorted equipment (e.g. TV's) either not working at all, or not working properly.

No plates, cups or glasses
Guests were puzzled to find that their rooms contained no plates, glasses, cutlery and so on at all. This was despite all rooms having a microwave and mini-fridge, and some even having small kitchenettes. They wondered aloud what the point of these facilities were, if they had no practical means to make use of them with what was available in the room.

Not kept very clean
The majority of guests were quite unhappy with the cleanliness of the hotel, especially with their rooms. The complaints were many, ranging from stains of unknown origin to cockroach sightings, but whatever the specifics were, they did not leave guests with a very good impression.
