They are pretty simple when it comes to decor and furniture, but nevertheless have all you’ll need for a decent stay, including equipped kitchenette and air conditioning. There’s a small courtyard pool, which guests are welcome to use to take the edge off the tropical heat. The area also includes BBQ facilities and a games area with pool tables. There’s a small bar onsite, but of course the immediate surroundings offer much more by way of bars, cafes and restaurants. Grilled Cairns, a local burger chain that gets a lot of rave reviews, is just a short walk away. The ferry terminal, where guest can catch ferries out to the reef and islands, is approximately 1000 yards from Lake Central Cairns.

This was perhaps what guests were most unhappy about. Guests after guest listed problems they found with the cleanliness of their rooms. It was not just a matter of a little dirt here or there, but rather that the entire room was said to be filthy, with some not at all surprised to see cockroaches scurrying around.
