With its fantastic indoor pool and hot tub, La Quinta Inn & Suites Springfield South offers great leisure facilities and comfortable accommodation just south of downtown Springfield. The rooms are elegantly furnished and decorated, and feature flat screen TV, ultra-fast Wi-Fi, microwave, minibar, coffee maker, work desk, telephone, hairdryer, alarm clock and clothes iron. Aside from the wonderful pool, the hotel also has a fully equipped fitness center, so guests can keep up with their workout schedule and a business center so business people can make sure that important presentation is just right. A breakfast consisting of waffles, bread, muffins, fresh fruit and hot items such as eggs, sausages and biscuits and gravy is served every day. There are a couple if great restaurants nearby, including Mijuri, a very popular spot serving fantastic Japanese dishes. Downtown Springfield, home of Missouri State University, is only 2.5 miles from the hotel.
While the hotel is not right in the very heart of Springfield, its center isn't very far away. Guests seemed to be perfectly happy with the location, saying that it was just a very short drive to the places in Springfield they wished to visit, including Missouri State.
It was near impossible to find a bad word written about the hotel's staff. The clerks at reception were said to be not only very friendly, but also knowledgeable and willing to offer some useful information and terrific recommendations.
While the reviews were somewhat mixed, the majority seemed to find the breakfast quite adequate. While not offering an extensive spread, there was said to be enough variety that most people would be satisfied.
While only mentioned a couple of times, it was reported that the hotel's elevator was especially tiny. Aside from the problems this cased with capacity, it was mentioned that claustrophobic guests should be prepared to take the stars during their stay.
Unfortunately, the side effect of the hotel's exceptionally pet-friendly policies is that guests with allergies may experience problems. The hotel does not have separate pet and non-pet rooms, so any guest could be occupying a room that had just had a dog or cat in it. Despite housekeeping's best efforts, it is difficult to remove all the hair, let alone dander. As a result guests with allergies mentioned they were triggered during their stay.
While there were also one or two compliments, the majority did not seem to find the mattresses comfortable. Unfortunately the complaints ranged from “much too hard” all the way to “much too soft”, so it is difficult to give any advice or recommendations.
