The 3-star Country Resort La Casa delle Monache is located inside the Terralcantara farm, in the district of Finaita in the City of Granite (Me). Originally a summer convent for a female monastic order; to this day a part of the architecture bears witness to this antique destination. In the immediate vicinity is the famous Alcantara Botanical Garden and Geological Park with its spectacular Gorge Trail; Etna and its Regional Park (UNESCO heritage) are located about 65 km (1 hour and 20 min.); Taormina is just over 20 km (c.ca 25 min.), Giardini Naxos and the Ionian Sea (the beaches of the first Greek colonists) about 10 km (15 min.), while Catania is 65 km away and Messina 53 km. The surrounding countrysides have been sets for the filming of some scenes from the famous "Godfather" of FF Coppola and the resort is in the heart of the Alcantara Valley which over the centuries has been the road of the principle Sicilian civilisation, and is inserted in the Nordic walking circuit called "giroalcantara".
