Hotel Howard Johnson by Wyndham Branson Theatre District (Branson, USA)

Although the rooms at Southern Oaks Inn Branson are not fanciful, they are nevertheless quite spacious and very clean. The facilities inside the rooms are of good quality and mostly in decent shape. The rooms have comfy beds with premium beddings that afford guests a nice restful sleep.

The hotel serves a nice complimentary continental breakfast that consists of eggs, biscuits, sausages, gravy, cereal, oatmeal, cinnamon rolls, and fresh fruit juices. Many guests have reported that the breakfast is not only well done but very filling as well.

The hotel is very conveniently located to famous tourist attractions including World's Largest Toy Museum (a 12-minute walk from the hotel), Hollywood Wax Museum located a 29-minute walk from the hotel, and Shepherd of the Hills Outdoor which is 3.9 km from the hotel.

Some amenities in the rooms are outmoded. The TVs are 19-inch old tube type models with not very good reception and poor picture quality. Some rooms are run down with ceiling peeling off, old worn out carpets, and unpleasant musty smells. Walls are quite thin and not adequately soundproofed while windows are quite small.

A few guests have complained of being booked into rooms with double-sized beds when they requested for twin beds. Whether this is as a result of an oversight on the part of the hotel or is standard procedure is not entirely clear.

The hotel operates a rather harsh 48-hour cancellation policy which means guests who book then cancel their reservation without staying at the hotel still get charged for two nights.
