Guests often remark that the hotel feels like a real "home away from home",  thanks to the comfortable beds, full-sized refrigerators, and cosy, separate living area. The pool and basketball court are well appreciated too.

The phrase "good value for money" comes up often in reviews, due to the many "free" amenities in addition to the spacious rooms, including parking, Wi-Fi, a hearty breakfast with something for (almost) everyone, and a generous evening reception. The location is widely considered convenient, too, as the hotel is easily accessible from the I-5 and close to restaurants, shops, and the Bear Creek Trail (ideal for runners and dog walkers).

The front desk staff have received many rave reviews for their courteous and professional customer service, while the housekeeping team gets kudos for very clean, well maintained rooms.

Guests have reported cigarette odor, pet odor, and excessive use of scented air freshener, presumably used to mask the first two issues.

Though the majority of guests report clean, quiet rooms, some unfortunate housekeeping oversights have been noted over the years, and light sleepers have been troubled by thumping footsteps overhead or mechanical noise in rooms near the elevator. The 24-hour gym has been a source of noise complaints as well.

Though many guests enjoy the complimentary breakfast, the staff has occasionally had trouble keeping supply in step with demand, in terms of both food and the silverware.
