The music-themed Homefield Backpackers offers hostel accommodation in Ireland’s surfing capital of Bundoran, and is also part of the Donegal Adventure Centre outdoor sports facility and surf school. Guests staying in this County Donegal hostel will find themselves a few minutes walk away from the waterfront and Main Street, and less than ten minutes from Bundoran Waterworld and Bundoran GlowBowl. Private rooms and dormitories for up to eight people are available, all of which include bed linen and free Wi-Fi. Guests can take advantage of luggage storage facilities, a drying room, free parking and a common kitchen, as well as a TV room with fireplace and a piano. Complimentary tea and coffee is provided and the hostel also has a Mediterranean restaurant on site. Homefield Backpackers is about 25 minutes’ drive away from Donegal and half an hour from Sligo.
Homefield Backpackers was thought to be good value for money, especially with a guest kitchen on site for self catering, beds that were generally thought comfortable and plenty of space in rooms. Furthermore, some guests enjoyed chilling out and meeting people in the common areas, or liked the rock and roll atmosphere and decor.
Those who stayed here reported very friendly sorts on reception, who guests said were fantastic in making them feel welcome and helping out with anything which came up. Moreover, the basic breakfasts on offer were thought to be decent for setting them up for the day ahead.
The central Bundoran location of this hostel is apparently well suited for heading out on the town,attending festivals and is also said to be close to the beach for surfing. Furthermore, guests mentioned that the Donegal Adventure Centre is right next door, which was handy for those planning activities there.
A small number of guests mentioned that some areas of Homefield Backpackers were a bit dark for their liking, while a handful of others reported being a bit cold in their rooms or arriving to a damp smell.
Some of those who stayed found the facilities at this hostel to be a bit dirty, dated and unkempt, in their opinion, but others thought this was a non-issue given the price.
