Hotel Hoksbergen (Amsterdam, Netherlands)

Not only does the staff speak English (among many languages), but they make sure to do so with a smile on their face. They are always welcoming and friendly to everyone that comes into the hotel.

Hoksbergen has an ideal spot, as it’s located right on the Singel Canal, making for some beautiful views and scenery. It’s also great for exploring Amsterdam, as it is very close to the main shopping street and a few different canals and squares.

The hotel is cleaned daily, and kept nice and quiet. The establishment itself is an old canal house, and has everything from ensuite showers to wet rooms. There are also large fans in each room for you to use.

If you are not very good at navigating stairs – or plan to bring a lot of baggage – you might have trouble at this hotel. Not only is there no elevator, but the stairs are very steep and narrow, which can cause some trouble.

Though Hoksbergen offers many comforts and add-ons, you will not find air conditioning in the rooms. This might cause some issues, especially because it can get pretty warm in the chambers during the hot season.

The hotel offers single beds only, which can cause a problem if you need a double or something bigger. However, you always have the option to push the beds together.
