Great Wolf Lodge, Concord, is a large resort with indoor water park and activities for all the family. Themed suites feature air conditioning, sofa beds, refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, free WiFi and cable TV. A hairdryer, in-room safe and iron/board are also included; as are free newspapers and toiletries. Communal facilities at Great Wolf Lodge, Concord, include four indoor pools and children’s pools, arcade, games room, children’s club, laundry facility, beach towels and spaces for conferences and meetings. There is a gymnasium, spa and hot tub, in addition to further spaces for social occasions. There are six restaurants providing varied choices. The Loose Moose Cottage serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. Away from the resort, restaurants include Hooters and Ruby Tuesday. Wal-Mart, On The Run and 7-Eleven, are among the local convenience stores. The resort is close to the airport, Concord Mills, Sea Life Charlotte-Concord and Charlotte Motor Speedway.
With water sports and activities being a focal point of the visit, safety comes into the equation and can be a real concern. The life guards here, though, are friendly, exceptionally well trained and efficient. So that initial safety concern quickly disperses. All staff, though, are friendly and helpful.
Many activities are aimed at those kids who are 'teetering on their teen years' but it doesn't take long for older kids, parents ... and grandparents to get involved. Then, *if they've still got any (!) they can really relax and let their hair down in a range of water sports and games.
All the slides (*there are 10 of them) , the surrounding areas and indoor restaurants and other facilities, are constantly kept clean. The same can be said of the rooms which are cleaned on a daily basis.
Food and drinks at the resort are very expensive so, unless you are mega rich, you need an alternative. It's a good idea, then, to treat yourself to the occasional restaurant meal, but go and stock up at the supermarket on other food and drink supplies ... and save a bundle!
It depends on the weather and season, but sometimes the water is icy cold; so fun and games are replaced by gritted teeth, determination and shivers.
Sometimes, quite a few of the water toys aren't working; a recipe for disappointment. In this family environment, it's a concern that some of the adults choose to dress in very skimpy attire. But, on the other hand ...!!
