Golden Sands is perfectly located a few streets back from Main Beach in Southport on Queensland’s sunny Gold Coast. One, two and three bedroom apartments are fully self-contained including full kitchens, separate living areas with cable TV, laundry facilities and most apartments are air conditioned. Cool down in the saltwater pool or relax with a steam and a spa after a long day sightseeing. The Golden Sands also has a fitness room and a tennis court for active guests to maintain their fitness. Leave the cooking to someone else and visit popular Tedder Avenue, with its range of cafes and restaurants. Here guests can try premium seafood, Thai and Italian. The Golden Sands is a three minute drive to Marina Mirage shopping centre and SeaWorld. Main beach is a five minute walk away and the Brisbane International Airport is an hour and a half drive from the the hotel.
The hotel is one of only a handful of hotels on this strip which enjoys an absolute beach front position, with no road between it and the beach. Guests commented in their reviews that the views from their balconies over the ocean were spectacular.
Guests commented that the hotel is very family friendly with plenty of amenities including the pool, to keep the kids amused for hours. Guests also said that there are a number of nearby local parks with playgrounds suitable for kids which was handy.
The hotel is close to local restaurants and within easy walking distance of Tedder Avenue which has a variety of bars and cafes to choose from. For many guests the location was the best part of their stay.
Guests enountered a number of unidentified musty smells during thier stay with many changing apartments to avoid what seemed to be settled in smells that were very unpleasant.
Guests who had the unfortunate timing to stay at the resort whilst the pool was closed for renovation and upgrade were not happy and said that they would have stayed elsewhere had they had known, prior to booking, that they would not have access to the pool.
Guests who encountered broken furniture, leaking taps and non-working appliances in the kitchen commented that the apartments need better maintenance by owners who could either fix or upgrade these items.
