The rooms are clean, comfortable, and very affordable. The kitchen area and common areas are spacious and easily used. Here, you're allowed to bring in alcohol and there are plenty of lockers for storage if you're in for an extended stay.

The hostel caters to those who are backpacking in and gives those guests top treatment, including coupons for dining at other locations. The common and kitchen areas are geared towards socialising in true hostel fashion.

The hotel is centrally located and there is much to do and see around the immediate vicinity. The bus between Cairns and Port Douglas really allows for great mobility and saves on transportation costs.

The cooking and serving ware for the kitchen is kept locked up. If you need something, you'll have to go to reception to check it out. There also isn't any free Wi-Fi and you'll have to leave in order to access some or pay for the privilege.

This is a huge hostel with a lot of customers. That much business in the bathrooms and kitchens creates a smell issue that is just unpleasant to deal with. While there is daily cleaning, it isn't the scrubbing and hygienic kind. It's mostly just light dusting and trash pick up. The lack of windows in many rooms only adds to the problem.

Your experience with customer service will either be stellar and glowing or you'll get rude and hostile service. There doesn't seem to be an in between. The unpleasant customer service includes no response when items are stolen, shrugs when equipment or features break, and the cold shoulder when voicing concerns or problems.
