The rooms are simply furnished, and feature private bathrooms, air conditioning and TV’s. There is a small lounge were guests are welcome to relax and socialise. Wi-Fi is free of charge and available throughout the property. Reception can assist with tours, transfers and luggage storage. A basic Italian breakfast is served every morning in the lounge, while other meals can be enjoyed at any of a number of nearby eateries. The hosts will be happy to provide personal recommendations. Pisa’s main train station is barely 400 yards’ from Gli Arclecchini, while its iconic leaning tower is just 1.5 miles away. Be careful it doesn’t fall on your head.
It was by far Gli Arclecchini's location that most impressed guests. They described it as just a couple of minutes from the train station. Also, the leaning tower was just a 15 to 20 minute walk away. Guests definitely felt that they could walk to any sight in Pisa they cared to visit.
There was certainly no shortage of issues guests had with the B&B. But some, on reflection, acknowledged that they had paid a fairly low room-rate. Those who were only in town for a day for a very quick look at the sights seemed the happiest, since for them the B&B was simply a place to crash for the night.
While reviews were somewhat mixed, most guests seemed to have approved of the host's conduct. He was described as welcoming and very informative, helping tourists make the most of their stay.
This was the thing that caused the most complaints, even causing a fair amount of anger from guests. They insist that they booked a room that was described as having a private bathroom, only to arrive and find themselves allocated to a room with a shared bathroom. They went on to say that they did not even accept that they had been allocated to a different room, which would be bad enough, but that the rooms themselves were being missrepresented on the B&B's website.
Since the host doesn't live on the premises, and there is no permanent staff on-site, a key pick up time needs to be arranged. Of course reality is such that these plans don't always…go to plan every time, leaving guests without keys.
A fairly common complaint was that the room walls did nothing at all to prevent the passage of sound from room to room.
