Hotel Eurostars Aliados (Porto, Portugal)

Located in central of Porto, many felt that this hotel makes a great base from which to explore the hustle and bustle of Portugal’s second city. In addition to being surrounded by bars, restaurants and cafés, this property is close to both a metro stop and the stunningly-tiled São Bento railway station. These links made getting into, around and even beyond Porto an absolute snap. Those who preferred to explore the city on foot were equally happy to find that the waterfront area and historic centre were located just a few minutes’ walk away from the hotel.

Just under half of the units in this property boasted city views. While guests reported being charged a bit more for a panoramic vista, those who plumped for this option consistently mentioned that the beautiful views out over Porto were well worth paying for.

This older property is kept tidy, with most guests very pleased with the overall standard of cleanliness here.

Tiny rooms were a common complaint here, with many guests taken aback by the bijou size of the units. Also, hard mattresses were a consistent problem, with many reporting poor sleep quality due to uncomfortable beds.

The historic ambience of this hotel was lost on most, who simply reported that the property had dated and tired feel about it. Many also reported that noise – from adjacent rooms, hallways and especially the street – was a problem.

Breakfast here was consistently singled out as a point for improvement; many felt that the offerings of bread, ham and cheese were limited and repetitive.
