Jones Street has been described by some as 'Savannah's most beautiful street' and if you venture out just a little further you'll find yourself in the thick of Savannah's historic district with it's well preserved old homes and gardens, views and walks along the river and plenty of shops and cafés. You can walk or hitch a ride on the hop-on hop-off trolley service.

Although it has gone through a few changes and been expanded considerably, much of the original building of the Thompson family home survives today and is in use. The architectural style alone adds an old charm to the experience, but the portraits of the original owners of the house and antique furniture add even more to the experience.

Every evening in the parlour, wine and assorted food platters are on offer to guests, as well as tea, coffee and deserts later on. This is free of charge for guests of the bed-and-breakfast and is a nice touch before or after heading out into the town for some dinner.

Parking your car while staying at the guesthouse can get tricky as the only option is the metered curb-side parking spaces and only one side of the street may be used. The staff are usually on hand to advise on this on arrival, however.

The rooms in some sections go up to three storeys high, however there is no elevator for guests to use, which given the age of the house is understandable. For those with limited mobility or perhaps heavy luggage, calling ahead to request a room on a low floor may be necessary.

There is a breakfast room and the courtyard where breakfast is served in the morning and the evening drinks and snacks, however no meals are prepared on site and there is no room service. Several restaurants are a short walk away, however.
