Theriso Elia Maisonettes are located in the historic village of Theriso 16 km from the City of Chania. 30 km from Chania airport and 24 km from the port of Souda. Theriso is a small village situated in the foothills of the white mountains at an altitude of 580 meters. It is famous for its incredible beauty, its glorious history and dairy products. Theriso played a very important role in the history of Crete during the 19th century. It was the birthplace of Cretan revolutionaries Claus, Stephen and John Cali whom participated in most major battles against the Turks in Crete. The village also owes its glorious history and reputation to Eleftherios Venizelos, an eminent Greek leader. Having his headquarters in Theriso he declared the union of Crete and Greece. He is credited with being "the maker of modern Greece", and is widely known as the "Ethnarch". His home has now been converted into a museum. This charming village has a range of accommodations and excellent restaurants where you can taste the local specialties. Visitors can also admire the cave located 2.5 km, North of the village on the left bank of the Kladissos River.
