Based on the reviews of past guests, this hotel's central location in Istanbul's Beyoglu district is outstanding. It is more or less on top of Sishane metro station on the city's M2 line. While this provided easy access to the rest of the city, this hotel is very well situated for those who want to explore the historical sites of the local area.
This hotel may be fit for a sultan, but it is certainly set in a shopper's paradise. Bargain hunters were pleased to find that the hotel is very close to the major shops of Istiklal, but the area just surrounding the hotel is brimming with restaurants, clubs, etc., so there seems to be something for everyone here.
From their rooms, guests were treated to glimpses of the famous Golden Horn as well as the nearby Galata Tower. While these were impressive, the panorama continued unabated in this hotel's dining area, which served up more outstanding views along with a traditional Turkish breakfast.
Sadly, quite a large number of guests reported housekeeping concerns at this hotel. Mould in showers, filthy curtains, dust and dirt behind furniture, broken fixtures and unkempt stairwells really let this property down and impacted the overall quality of guests' stays.
Additionally, a number of visitors reported that the quality of the amenities here was well below par. Slow lifts and Wi-Fi as well as reports of confusion over the existence of this property's sauna only added to the disappointment.
While the views from the dining area are fabulous, many commented that the quality of the breakfast here really could do with some improving. Many of those unfamiliar with Turkish breakfasts would have liked to have seen more Western offerings.
