Hotel COMO Point Yamu Phuket (Phuket-Town, Thailand)
About COMO Point Yamu Phuket
Situated just 25 minutes’ drive from Phuket Airport, the luxury COMO Point Yamu Phuket brings a little bit of Italian style to an idyllic stretch of Thai coastline.
All rooms are simply, but luxuriously, furnished and feature air conditioning, minibar, tea/coffee station, satellite TV and hairdryers. Most also have private balconies with sea views.
A central feature of COMO Point Yamu Phuket is the serene Shambala Retreat, with its very extensive list of treatments available. More active guests will find a large infinity pool and on-site gym. The resort also owns and manages a secret beach club on Naki Yai Island, a 20-minute sppedboat ride from the resort.
There are two restaurants at COMO Point Yamu Phuket, one specialising in Thai cuisine, the other in Italian, with both focussing on both health and taste.
Most guests focus on the resort and its private island beach, but Patong is 18 miles away for those looking for more active nightlife.
Most guests realised when booking that the resort was in a fairly remote spot, and in fact booked it for this very reason. On arrival they were not disappointed. They described the resort as both incredibly beautiful, with its views over the Andaman Sea, and completely serene, far from the more lively areas of Phuket.
positive:
Two excellent restaurants
Though the reviews of something people are as passionate about as food will inevitably be mixed, a large majority have only good things to say about the food at the resort. The fact that it is created with their health in mind, but is also very tasty, certainly impresses.
positive:
Great attention to detail
Several guests mention that it was the small things, and attention to detail, that most impressed them about the resort. e.g A plate of fresh fruit in their rooms. There were many such gestures that guests found very appealing.
Negative Reviews
negative:
Not much nightlife nearby
Though guests tend to be aware of this when booking, some do mention that the remote site, and the health and wellness nature of the property, means there is very little active nightlife - either at the hotel or in the immediate surroundings. This property would not suit people looking for Patong-style nightlife.
negative:
Smoking allowed in all public areas
Although it didn't often come up, and curiously for a resort focussed on health and wellness, guests comment that people are allowed to, and do, smoke seemingly in all the public areas of the resort. They found this a bit disconcerting.
negative:
Décor a bit basic
Though most acknowledge that the décor at the resort is very simple and basic, most have no problem with that. Some guests, however, feel that it is a bit too simple, and is not becoming of a luxury resort.
