Hotel Casa Via Mar Inn & Tennis Club (Port Hueneme, USA)

The location of the hotel is not too bad. You are close to shops and the beach. And even though the property is somewhat old, it does manage to retain some charm. At least the landscaping and the pool is nice.

The continental breakfast is sufficient. You have eggs, bacon, fruit, coffee, tea, juices, and even some juicy sausages and toast. The variety is adequate. It's nothing to write home about; however, if you are hungry it will satisfy your palette. In fact, it is better than most hotels. It would be nice if the serving time for the breakfast could be later though.

The rooms are a nice size, and if you get the deluxe room it's really large. The furnishings are a bit antiquated, but they have a nice Spanish style to them. They work with what they have basically, and it's not overly tatty.

The hotel is average and the décor is old. Though the try to make it work, the place is in need of a real facelift. The bathrooms need updating, carpets need cleaning or completely replaced, the furniture is worn. It has seen better days and it shows. There is also a stale smell in the air.

You may not feel too welcomed upon arriving at the hotel. It just seems that the reception could careless if you are standing there or not. If you've ever felt invisible even though you are in a crowded room, that's the feeling you get. You feel more like an inconvenience than a welcomed visitor.

It can get pretty noisy if your room is near the busy street, so if you make a booking there, ask for a room away from the street.
