Candlewood Suites Erie, An Ihg Hotel (Erie, USA)

The rooms here are almost like a studio apartment as they have pretty comprehensive kitchen facilities, including a fridge and dishwasher. This is very convenient for guests wanting to self-cater or for those who are staying more than one night.

This is quite a new property and therefore the general decoration of both the guestrooms and the public areas is excellent with the housekeeping team ensuring that everything is kept clean to a high standard.

The beds here are supremely comfortable and the air-conditioning does an excellent job of keeping the temperature controlled.

One of the biggest bug bears with this property is that to say it’s a brand new property it doesn’t seem like any thought has gone into its basic design. The entrance is not where you would intuitively expect it to be meaning some patrons have got a little lost just outside the hotel. The rooms are not laid out as well as they could be meaning they do not make the most of the space. Some of the small touches seem to be an afterthought and not where they should be.

There have been lots of teething problems at this property including the lifts not working, fridges not fitted correctly or not working correctly and items in the room not being replenished when a guest checks out.

Guests have gone as far as to say that they have never experienced such poor customer service. Some of this is down to staff not knowing how to do basic things for example print an invoice or process a booking or rooms not being ready on time to check in. Feedback has also stated that there is one woman in particular working on the front desk who should probably not be allowed to work in hospitality due to her poor attitude.
