Positive Reviews

positive:

Great Indian food on offer

While reviews were somewhat mixed, the majority clearly liked the food on offer. While both western and Indian food was available, guests reckoned that the Indian food was the hotel's strong point, with delicious curries and other foods available.

positive:

Very spacious rooms

Whatever small issues guests had with their rooms, size certainly wasn't one of them. They described the rooms as extraordinarily spacious, so that there was no question of people getting under each others skin in a space too small for two.

positive:

Good location

Broughty Ferry is not large, and guests said the hotel was not far from the town centre and waterfront. They seemed to feel they could park the car and then simply walk to anywhere in the town they really wished to be.

Negative Reviews

negative:

Noise from the main road and train line

The Broughty Ferry Hotel is sandwiched between the main road running through town on the one side and the railway line on the other side. As a result, some guests reported that, while it wasn't too terrible, there was definitely noise that bled into the rooms. Light sleepers should take earplugs.

negative:

Room decor a bit old

While not regarded as a very serious issue, some did say that the décor was starting to look a little bit dated. In their opinion it would have to be updated soon for the hotel to remain relevant.

negative:

No salmon at breakfast

A few guests were disappointed that their Scottish breakfast didn't include salmon. It is unclear whether this was a seasonal issue, or perhaps the hotel has just decided against offering it.
