Hotel Baymont by Wyndham Salem Roanoke Area (Salem, USA)

Baymont Inn & Suites Salem Roanoke Area is conveniently located close to Interstate 81 and several main attractions are a short drive away. A choice of cafes and restaurants are in close proximity to the hotel and Valley View Mall is a ten-minute drive away.

Although close to the interstate, guests found the rooms to be quiet and described them as well presented, clean, comfortable and lit with natural light. All the basic necessities are provided with a private balcony being a welcome bonus feature.

The staff have been described as friendly, courteous and accommodating in working to ensure that guest's have a pleasant stay.

Despite other positive reviews, some guests reported that neither their rooms nor the hotels's common areas were an accurate representation of the online photos they had seen of the hotel. Complaints included that the rooms were rundown and the paint on the walls and ceilings were peeling, and the furniture was old and in some cases mismatched.

The housekeeping seems to be inconsistent as, despite other favorable reviews, some guests experienced a substandard cleaning service. Some guests reported that their bathroom was dirty and showed signs of mold as well as rust on some fixtures, the carpets were dirty and surfaces dusty.

While the hotel is advertised as being non-smoking, guests reported that guest rooms as well as the foyer and hallways smelled strongly of stale cigarette smoke. Other guests reported that some of the rooms smelled strongly of disinfectant or air deodorizer, though neither of these was able to mask the smell of stale cigarettes.
