Half way between Sydney and Brisbane, Banana Coast Caravan Park makes for a fun-filled stop over. Right next to Coffs harbour in northern New South Wales, this caravan park is near the Big Banana theme park and just a short stroll from the beach. Guests can stay in a standard or deluxe cabin (four, five or six berths), park their caravan or pitch a tent (there are powered and unpowered pitches). Each spacious cabin has a double bed and lounge area with sofa bed, as well as a kitchen with oven and microwave. Set within ten acres of shady trees and tropical gardens, Banana Coast Caravan Park boasts a pool, kids pool and children's playground. Guests can stock up in the onsite convenience store and prepare food in the communal barbecue area. Coffs Harbour is bursting with action-packed activities such as scuba diving, surfing and white water rafting. Guests can even embark on a whale-watching cruise.
Guests feel that the site is an inexpensive place to stopover for a night or two. It may not be the height of luxury, but there is all you need at hand. The cabins are pretty large and have good kitchen facilities. There are also pools and playgrounds onsite which are ideal for children to chill out and unwind after hours stuck in the car.
You don't have to go far off the highway to find the site - a very attractive consideration after spending a long time at the wheel. Guests also appreciate being close to so many attractions and being just around the corner form the Big Banana fun park!
Tired drivers are relieved to be afforded a friendly welcome on arrival at reception. Guests find the hosts to be very approachable and accommodating and the customer service to be outstanding.
The whole site seems like it has seen better days and has not been upgraded for years. Facilities such as the kids playground, tennis courts and barbecue areas are poorly maintained and rusty. However it is the standard of the cabins that really disappoints many guests.You can feel the springs from the mattresses and even the wooden slats in the beds. The couches appear to have little padding either. Overnight guests can just about put up with it, but it's unbearable for many guests staying a few days.
Many guests are disgusted to find their cabins to be in a filthy state. There are frequent complaints of mould in the bathrooms and damp musty odours. Cockroaches and ants are also common and undesirable co-residents.
Being so close to the highway, you are exposed to a constant din of cars and trucks passing by.
