It's a tremendous disappointment and turn-off to check into a room that looks horrible, is dirty and not refreshed, and in some cases, even has bugs crawling about. Housekeeping is at a low, and the situation ruins expectations and comfortability.

Non-smoking rooms still smell like tobacco, so it's unclear whether guests have nevertheless smoked in them, or the smoke has been that strong and still carried over. Regardless, there's not a great effort to effectively remove the offending traces and scents.
