Most guests comment that the hotel offers tremendous views over the Bosphorus - both from its restaurant and from many of its rooms and suites. Many travellers are in Istanbul for the sense of place and history, so a view of the meeting point of Europe and Asia provides a bit of a frisson of excitement.
While the area itself is much praised, with comments that there are great sights, cafes and restaurants around Taksim Square, guests especially love the proximity to the metro, and other public transport options. While the quality of the rooms was never really disputed, quite a few guests mentioned that they thought they were a little small for a five star hotel. They were definitely expecting bigger rooms.
A very common complaint, guests felt like there weren't really any truly open public areas in the hotel were they could just sit an relax. The only real area was the restaurant, but of course this is used for dining, not just for lazing about.
