EconoHotel Montreal (Montréal, Canada)

This is an excellent downtown location and with access to good transport links. The hotel is just behind the bus terminal and although it falls some way short of perfection, the cheap room tariffs more than compensate. There are around 40 festival events staged in Montreal throughout the year and in The Quartier des Spectacles. Attending events becomes very viable when staying here and the rich variety of attractions includes dance, pop, lumiere, film etc. You name it!

Members of staff are pleasant and helpful. The front desk people and cleaning staff are particularly outgoing and obliging.

Whilst rooms may be lacking in certain areas, they don’t miss out on that essential requirement ... cleanliness. They can’t be faulted in this respect. Rooms are also en-suite which, for the price, is quite surprising.

The room is very small; even just one person would feel claustrophobic. They are pretty basic too. There is, though, evidence of some updating in the bathroom area. Breakfast is also small, unimaginative and served in a not particularly appealing room. It is, however, ‘free’. There is no lift so if you are booked into a room on the higher floors, make sure that you have plenty of luggage carrying energy.

Night-time noise never stops. It persists in the corridors and there is constant opening and closing of room doors. The problem could be improved if guests were more considerate but doors and corridors could be better designed.

The Wi-Fi signal is frustratingly poor and only really works in the lobby area.
