The hotel is fairly free of unnecessary frills, but the value is excellent. Rooms are clean, if a little on the small side; but they're comfortable nevertheless. They are cleaned daily to include changing towels. Still in the room; the TV has plenty of channel choice and the Wi-Fi actually works (!) Breakfast is really quite impressive, although the coffee is an acquired taste. Free parking, in this busy area, is a huge advantage for any hotel guest.
Members of staff, throughout - and during both the day and night! - are cheerful, efficient and helpful. The fact that this is no lift is an initial cause for concern, but members of staff strive to solve the problem as much as possible - and they'll take any luggage to your room. There are, though, some ground floor rooms; handy for elderly or disabled guests.
There are plenty of restaurants in the area and reception staff are happy to advise on best value places to eat. It's a long hike into the centre, but the metro gets you there in no time + it's only a few hundred yards away, so no problem. The area has seen better days, but it's OK. Yes, if you want; look around you'll easily find some fancy hotels with equally fancy prices. Doubt if the overall value beats this one though.
