A High Street' address usually means noise and plenty of it. Not here, though! The place is very quiet but, of course, just step outside and you have access to shops, restaurants and all the other facilities you'd expect to find on every High Street.
On arrival, the front door is locked - so that's not the most welcoming of starts. Later, you'll discover that this is to keep the owners' (*noisy) dog in. Inside, the place is a bit untidy. Rooms are fine though but the quirky theme continues with the fire exit being through one of the guest bedrooms. Hopefully, mass abandonment of the building, using this route, doesn't happen very often.
There's no front door key. You have to knock to get the owners to let you in. This must be very inconvenient for them and it reduces, substantially, the independence of the guest. Security-wise, it means that they know exactly who is coming in and going out. Security, though, is lax in the garage where some really expensive bikes are stored.
There's a really inviting bar … but it never seems to be open. Most people love animals but it's a bit unnerving, at breakfast, to find the owners' mutt' wandering round the dining room.
