Yorkshire Museum (York, United Kingdom)

The Yorkshire Museum was established in 1830 and houses an array of artefacts relating to the county of Yorkshire. It has four permanent displays that cover biology, geology, astronomy and archaeology. Amongst its treasures is the Cawood Sword, one of the world’s best preserved Viking swords. The museum stands in a ten acre botanical garden. These gardens date from 1830, the same date as the museum, but many of the buildings within the garden are much older. Entry into the gardens is free and they are open daily from 7.30am until 5.30pm. The museum is open daily from 10am until 5pm and the following entry fees are levied: Adults - £5.00 (7.5 Euros) Children - £3.50 (5.25 Euros) Family tickets are available.
