The Whitby Folk Festival takes place for seven consecutive days during the month of August. It is a collection of many different small events that involve singing and dancing in pubs, in the street and in the parks. There are over 600 different individual events that take place during this week long festival. Day tickets can be purchased that allow entry into all of the different events or tickets that are valid for the full week can also be bought. Tickets must be purchased in advance and are cheaper the earlier that they are bought. For example a full adult week ticket for the 2008 festival costs £120 if purchased before 1st May 2008, this rises to £128 if bought after the 1st August. Prices for day tickets also vary depending on when purchased and these are also more expensive for Saturday and Sundays.
