The University of Essex Sports Centre is located on the grounds of the Colchester Campus which can be found on the outskirts of the town. Public transport connects the university with the town centre and railway station and parking spaces are available on site free of charge. The Sports Centre is open to students and members of the public, price reduced memberships are available but day tickets are also available. The indoor facilities of the centre include a newly added Evolve gym with 130 state-of-the-art stations, a multi-functional sports hall, squash courts, climbing wall and activity studios in which classes for yoga, pilates, zumba, kickboxing, ballet, and more are offered. The outdoor spaces of the centre feature courts for netball and tennis, football pitches (grass and synthetic), disk golf, a squirrel run, cricket, and 3.2 miles of jogging paths. Orienteering is organized by the centre and the maps are available at the reception against a small fee. Guests who are using the outdoor spaces for running may use the shower and changing rooms without charge. Event hosting is available.
