The Roman Theatre of Augusta Praetoria, as Aosta was called in Roman times, dates back to the first century AD. Today only its 22 m high Southern facade is still completely intact. Remnants of the seating area, its semi-circular tiers are existing, as well as the foundation of the stage. The theatre offered once space for up to 4000 people. A photographic exhibition highlights the the process of the restoration works that have been undertaken to preserve the remnants of the theatre.
