Silverlink Biodiversity Park (Wallsend, United Kingdom)

The park is one of four Local Nature Reserves which have been established by North Tyensdei Council following a grant from English Nature. Occupying 18 hectacres in the middle of the Cobalt Business Park and opposite the Village Hotel, the park was developed from an old rubbish tip. The reserve has a number of different habitats including woodland, scrub and hedgerow, grassland and tall herb, wetland and exposed rock habitats. It has already attracted a diverse population of animals, birds, amphibians and insects. Gravelled paths lead through the reserve and to the top of the hill where a giant sun dial has been placed. From here there are views across Tyneside and out to sea. There is a free car park at the entrance.
