The RNLI Whitby Museum opened in 1957 and is housed in the former double boathouse which dates from 1895. This building contains a collection of artefacts relating to the history of local sea rescues. There are lifeboat models, medals, paintings and photographs as well as personal written accounts from RNLI crew members. It is open from Easter to October, from 10am until 4pm daily. Admission is free, although donations are welcome. The long distance walk “The Cleveland Way” passes close to this attraction.
