Phoenix Park (Dublin, Ireland)

Phoenix Park is located 3 kilometres to the north of Dublin city centre and covers an area of 712 hectares making it the largest urban public park in Europe. Around the circumference of the park there is a wall that measures 16 kilometres in length. Within the park there are large areas of grassland and woodland as well as tree lined avenues. The park has a wild herd of fallow deer that date back to the 17th century. Within Phoenix Park there are many different attractions, including its oldest building Ashtown Castle where a visitor centre is located. There is also a zoo, the Papal Cross and Áras an Uachtaráin, the official residence of the Irish Prime Minister. Phoenix Park is well served by public transport and there are several car-parking areas available. It is kept open at all times and admission is free.
