Nahal Ayoun Nature Reserve (Kiryat Shmona, Israel)

This nature reserve has hikes that take you into valleys where you reach four waterfalls. The most popular one is The Oven Falls (HaTanur) which is 30 meters high, and looks like a chimney. There is also the Mills Fall where there was once a flour mill. There are two trails - one short and one long. The shorter trail takes you down to the Oven Falls and then you have to go back up. The longer one starts at the Mills Fall and then goes towards the Oven Falls. That is a one-way path and not as well protected, and if you can’t arrange for a car to meet you at the other end, you’ll have to retrace your steps. That can take up to three hours. This is not a trip to be done in the summer since at that time the water is diverted for agriculture and basically is turned off. There’s a parking lot at each end of the reserve as well as a picnic area at the top of Oven Falls, but no other facilities. This isn’t easy to get to, and a car is essential. The closest town is Metulla which is north of Kiryat Shemona. The entrance can be found on the road from Kiryat Shemona to Metulla Road down a turning east about a kilometer south of Metulla
