Le Bon Marché is the oldest department store in Paris. Founded in 1838 by Aristide Boucicaut in a small shop it soon developed into a fixed-price department store and by the middle of the 19th century it had outgrown its original premises. The historic building as it can be seen now was designed by Gustave Eiffel and Louis Auguste Boileau. Today Le Bon Marché is the most luxurious department store the capital has to offer and designer brands such as Louis Vuitton, Chanel, Gucci, Dior, Jean Paul Gaultier, Prada, Balenciaga, Stella McCartney, Comme des Garcons are sold. “La Grande Epicerie” is the stores gourmet hall where you can find delicacies from around the world, many of which are hard, if not impossible, to find elsewhere in Paris. Le Bon Marché can be found in the 7th arrondissement, in an elegant residential area on the left bank of the Seine. The nearest Metro station is Sèvres-Babylone. Opening hours: From Monday to Saturday 9.30am-7pm , Saturdays until 8pm.
