Jenners (Edinburgh, United Kingdom)

Jenners Department Store is located on Princes Street Edinburgh where it first opened as a shop in 1838. It was destroyed by fire in 1892 and although Charles Jenner died the following year he bequeathed money for lavish external decorations to be added to the Jenners building. It re-opened in 1895 with such luxuries as electricity, air-conditioning and lifts. It has undergone several refurbishments since, the latest in 2002 changed the Princes Street shop windows back to the 1895 design. It is nicknamed the “Harrods of the North”. In 2005 Jenners was bought by the House of Fraser but still retains the Jenners name. Opening times are: Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday: 9.00am - 6.00pm Tuesday 9.30am - 6.00pm , Thursday 9.00am - 8.00pm, Sunday 11.00am - 5.00pm.
