Hillsborough Barracks (Sheffield, United Kingdom)

Hillsborough Barracks is a walled complex that was built in 1848. The site covers 22 acres and was used as an Army barracks from the time of its construction until 1930. Today, it houses a large shopping complex and a hotel. The barracks are built in a Gothic design with large castle like towers on the end of each of its walls. The central courtyard of the complex is now used as the main car parking area. Hillsborough Barracks represent the only surviving example of a walled barracks within Britain and are Grade 2 listed.
