Hexham Old Gaol (Hexham, United Kingdom)

Hexham’s Old Gaol was built in 1333 and housed prisoners into the 1800s. It has now been refurbished as a museum documenting crime and punishment through the centuries. There are four floors of exhibition rooms in the dungeon. There are also exhibits charting the Border Reivers, warring families which inflicted violence, murder and arson on communities on both sides of the border between England and Scotland in the sixteenth century.
