Cathedral of the Isles (Millport, United Kingdom)

The Cathedral of the Isles in Millport is the smallest cathedral still in use in the British Isles, with seating for 100 people. It was built by the 6th Earl of Glasgow, who owned the island, in 1851, as an Episcopal theological college. The church was consecrated as a cathedral in 1876. The adjoining College of the Holy Spirit provides residential accommodation for spiritual retreat and has links with the retreat on Iona. Music has always been an important element of the cathedral and concerts are held every Sunday between May and September. Daily services are at 8.30am and 5.15pm, and on Sundays sung eucharist is at 11am and communion at noon. Guided tours are available and there is a shop.
