Accommodations in Bramhall near Bramall Hall (Bramhall, United Kingdom)
Bramall Hall (Bramhall, United Kingdom)
Bramall Hall is a black and white timber-framed Tudor manor house in Bramhall, near Stockport. There is a record of two manors on this spot predating the Norman Conquest but in 1070 it was combined into one and given to a Norman baron. Thereafter until the 19th century it was owned by just three families. The construction is of a typical local style of oak timbers infilled with wattle and daub or plaster and lath. The majority of the manor is open as a museum to the public, as well as the surrounding 70 acres of gardens, lakes and woodland. Due to its unique history and significance in the area, Bramall Hall regularly hosts primary school history excursions and is a popular location for weddings. Opening times of the manor vary depending on the season, for details see the website. There is an admission charge but it is free for visitors with a Leisure Key as well as children under 5 years. There are two “Pay & Display” car parks with disabled parking spaces in each car park. Toilets and a gift shop can be found inside the Hall. Due to a number of steps and cobbles, the manor is not fully accessible. Guide dogs are welcome.
